Description
Bleu phtalo or Phthalo Blue.
The giga pigment - outrageous tinting power, crisp transparency.
This version is pigment-rich and ground with French linseed and walnut oils. In masstone it is dark, dark blue and when spread out with a palette knife the ground starts to show through lifting the tonal value to a different dark blue!
When opaque white is added, the transparency goes and the green leaning nature becomes more apparent...and it just keeps going...soaking up titanium white.
A speck of this is all you need in a mix, in fact over time I have come to think it is most useful when diluted with plenty of white and then put on a palette with other colours, otherwise it infiltrates everything!
Buttery, stands up on the palette.
