For me, it was unexpected and unplanned - like all the best things, to be honest - but the most fulfilling aspect of running Supreme Paint has been the contact and dialogue with fellow painters all around the world. I have had conversations with people pursuing truth through painting in Hungary, Greece, Hong Kong, all kinds of places. It is very inspiring to know I am not the only person locked away painting obsessively!
With some of these people I have been lucky enough to make friendships, and I want to share a colour chart made with Rublev earths from my friend Neil in Wales.
This colour chart shows the incredible diversity of Rublev's earth pigments and the beauty within - the chart is composed of a selection of Rublev's paints combined to produce steps of colour - the final column has a glaze of Hrazdan Yellow.
On a separate note I had to put this quote on the blog as it comes as close to describing how I feel about being a painter as anything I have ever read.
"I have the mindset of a painter. That's my identity. I couldn't abandon that even if I wanted to. In Greek the word for painter is zographos which means someone who draws life. The Greek is much more precise. It's a matter of living experience.
You can't say exactly when for the first time it was that I got interested in painting or images, precisely when it was - some particular morning or afternoon. But one day lost in time, at a certain hour, you understand that painting is everything."
