Description
A cooler cadmium yellow - it leans towards the green end of the yellow spectrum.
The pigment cadmium sulphide in this paint has, as its name suggests, a slight green leaning, tangy, sulphurous edge to it which is more visible in this cooler cadmium yellow than in your 'average' cadmium yellow, which tends towards hot orange.
Cadmium Sulphide is an inorganic pigment which in this form lightens and increases the opacity of warm mixes without overthrowing them.
The Cadmium range of pigments was introduced into production around the 1870's as soon as costs permitted, and has proved the most artistically reliable of all the metal compounds discovered in the 19th century.
