Description
Azurite is formed by the natural weathering of Copper ore and closely related to the green Malachite. The pigment in this paint is really a halfway point between the bright blue, pure Azurite and it's green cousin Malachite.
You will not find this pigment bound into oil anywhere else, truly unique.
In masstone it is a delicate, blue green, an exceptional hue. Reminescent of a muted cerulean blue with the copper component giving a verdigris edge. This range of colours is incredible and clearly argues the case for natural pigments having more beauty and range than their synthetic rivals.
To be expected it is a gentle tinter, however the range of tints are so beautiful, subtle and delicate it is a delight. I see colours in this paint I have only ever witnessed before in nature, the tints have the hue of that strangely greenish part of the sky near the horizon on a sunny day!
Slightly gritty under the knife, stands up, soft butter consistency.
