Description
Single pigment, cool yellow with wonderful clarity. Just pigment and oil, nothing else.
While playing (ahem researching!) with this I mixed some with alizarin and got some stunning muted, oranges, it is an excellent cool antidote to fiery cadmium yellow. Good tint strength.
The paint is made with the pigment PY53, one of the cleanest and brightest, inorganic pigments. It has the feel of Naples Yellow Light and would make an excellent non-toxic substitute for that hue. Higher chroma than the swatch suggests.
A green leaning yellow like this is very useful in landscape painting in order to create the subtle, greenish greys found so frequently in nature.
Please be aware that this is not an approximation of an existing colour, this is a single pigment paint created because of the excellent quality of that pigment, which should be the motivation behind all oil colours but frequently is not.
