Description
This paint is a blend of the modern, transparent pigments ultramarine blue, nickel azo yellow and quinacridone red. The red element provides more warmth and takes down the green chroma a notch, to give this deep, mossy green with good transparency.
In masstone, it is a very, dark green - the green is almost imperceptible due to the low tonal value. Spread with a palette knife, the transparency becomes apparent and it shows distinct yellow undertones, I am guessing the nickel azo yellow is the prevalent pigment here.
Once white is added it lifts the chroma and results in gentle yellow-green tints, quite low in chroma. In fact, in the lightest tints it is almost what I would describe as yellow-grey.
Like green gold but without quite as much zing or punch.
Good for subtle variations in green.
