Description
This is a hidden treasure trove of colour, the masstone (straight from the tube) is an unassuming yellowish brown. However when it is brushed out neat, a wide variety of beautiful, transparent yellows appear depending on the thickness to which it is brushed. You can just see this effect in the masstone image on the left.
Wallace Seymour have also applied the name Indian yellow to the paint, and it too has that rich orange-yellow undertone which you would expect from the traditional version.
The tints (adding white) offer an array of muted yellows and muted orange browns, the temperature is rapidly cooled by adding Titanium white, and the lightest tints almost have a green leaning edge, there is a lot going on with this paint!
The pigment is from a group of pigments called metal azomethines which are not currently used much in oil paint manufacture, however with the range of options a single tube of paint like this can offer, surely there will be more available soon.
