Description
French yellow ochre, sourced from the Societe de Ocres de France, for an earth pigment this is very high chroma, without a doubt this is one of, if not the best yellow ochres.
A delicious, warm yellow with a decent level of transparency, much more so than a manufactured iron oxide. Used thinly on a white ground, the hue is really something, a fiery, orange-yellow.
There is a picture of the quarry where it originated on the left which gives an idea of the powerful hue.
Finely ground with French linseed and walnut oils, to maximise the colour, it is smooth in consistency.
Hand made in small batches, true artisanal paint making by Francois Schaal.
