Description

Orange madder is derived from the roots of the Madder plant (Rubia Tinctorum).

Through different processing and strains, a variety hues can be obtained from crimson to orange, as shown in the photo of the different yarns all coloured with Madder root dye. Generally in oil paint it is more associated with Alizarin crimson.

In masstone this paint is a dark, orange brown. Spread more thinly it has a similarity to a rich burnt sienna displaying rich, earthy, orange hues.

Smooth in handling and crisply transparent.

When white is added it produces really exceptional glowing flesh tints, with a unique vibrancy.

This paint has some really decent tinting power and would prove useful on many palettes.

From artisanal production methods using organic horticulture (no chemicals), sustainably produced.
