Description
Cochineal Munich lake is made from cochineal collected and processed by hand and in much smaller quantities than the Carmine.
In comparison to Carmine, it is slightly more transparent and slightly cooler and leaning more towards purple.
In masstone (straight out of the tube) it is a very dark purple hue, once spread out with a palette knife it's very clear transparency allows the light to bounce off the ground underneath and show a vibrant violet, reminiscent of Cobalt Violet in transparency and hue.
Once white is added it has reasonably strong tinting power and stands up well against Titanium white, producing a wide range of cool lilac tints. Really in so many ways this is like a non-toxic Cobalt Violet.
Super smooth in consistency. Produced in small, sustainable batches by traditional methods.
