Description
Siderite is an iron rich mineral found in many places across the world, what surprised me is that most iron oxide paints are in the orange/red part of the colour spectrum, this is green! This particular pigment is produced from quarry byproducts, very carefully selected, washed, sieved and dried.
A deep, gentle, cool, green in masstone, once white is added it presents gentle, green grey tints.
It has a slightly gritty feel under the palette knife and is semi-transparent in nature.
A sustainable, recycled, alternative to Terre Verte and possibly even better than the original. A piece of raw siderite from Cornwall is pictured on the left.
