Description
Zingy and dense.
Very rich in tone yellow/orange ochre from Puisaye in Burgundy, historically this area was a major producer of ochre pigments. In the middle of the 19th Century production reached 18,000 tons a year, since then production fell as the iron oxide rich rocks became rarer and harder to obtain, the seams are generally only a foot wide and often deep underground.
The hue of this paint has a higher chroma than any other yellow ochre I have seen and it leans toward orange more than normal, good covering power. I can see why ochres from the region became so popular.
It is slightly gritty in texture and when tinted with white produces delightful creamy yellows with vague pink undertones.
This is very much a superior Yellow Ochre.
