Description
Quinacridone purple from the family of modern, robust Quinacridone pigments. In my experience they all glow and this is no exception.
One of my favourite oil colours is cobalt violet. I love the hue and transparency it offers, this is a close competitor and considerably cheaper.
In masstone the hue is rich deep purple, however as soon as it is spread thinly with a palette knife the transparency makes bright luminous violets with the white ground pinging light up through the paint film - as shown in the swatch image.
A much stronger tinter than cobalt, it can suck up titanium white with no issues and there are a mass of violet and lilac tints available when white is added.
Glazing a few layers of this would create a powerful purple depth and luminosity.
