Reliable, resilient, raw umber.
When I began painting I never expected that a dark, earthy brown would become one of my favourite paints, but raw umber has. It isn't so much it's colour, it is just so functional and useful. It can be used to take the edge off and 'grey' the brighter pigments and in itself produces delicious, warm, greys. It's gentle tinting power means you can achieve great subtleties and nuances in colour mixing.
This version, is smooth in feel being triple milled, pigment rich and bound with exceptional oil.
