Description
Rudstone is from the Native Earth range of paints by Wallace Seymour, which in my opinion are exceptional. This range is also totally unique to Wallace Seymour.
This paint in masstone is quite low in value, brown/red earth. It's not as cool as Hematite and not as warm as a classic Iron Oxide, somewhere in between. It has quite a flat look once dry, but really it excels for me in tints where it produces cool, fleshy hues.
It is quite similar to the Pompeii Red in the range but a little warmer. It amazes me that I have been using Italian and French earths for so long and these colours are present in the UK and being based in the UK it feels good to be painting landscapes with the materials which are around me.
