Description
Sansepolcro blue is a soft, fresh, high value, mid-temperature blue.
Made with three pigments - two whites, titanium and zinc in an ultramarine blue base - the warmth associated with ultramarine blue is cooled somewhat by the whites.
Classed as semi-opaque, the titanium white has also taken the majority of the transparency from the blue - it still has a good bit of chroma though and the colour has a solid and crisp look.
Surprisingly, it has a reasonable tint strength when more titanium white is added - enabling good control over some very subtle shifts in hue and value.
Summer skies.
