Description
A red ochre sourced from Northern Italy.
This is very good for portrait painters, providing instant flesh tints by adding white. In masstone it is the classic deep red/chocolate brown colour you would expect from a red earth. It paints long and has a relatively low viscosity in body.
However with these colours, it is the tints which are important and most useful. When adding white, you create quite neutral in temperature, flesh tints, they are not as pinky and warm as the Pozzuoli red.
Being quite neutral, tints of this will make an excellent base flesh colour which can be made cooler or warmer as desired. Semi-transparent so could be used for glazing as well.
