Description
This single pigment paint is sourced from slate deposits in the Ardennes region of France.
First off this is quite oily/loose paint, my tube released a fair bit of oil before I got to the paint, the paint itself is a dark grey in masstone without the green leaning which other slate paints I have used have.
It is cool in temperature, and makes a variety of cool greys which I was impressed with, however it's tinting strength is quite low. Very, very transparent.
This really needs to be 'held' with other paints in mixes, either as a tint with white or another mix.
It is not a grey made from white and black pigments, it is a genuine grey earth. Fascinating and different, it is probably much better than I have made it sound!
