Vivid blue is a blend of pigments, titanium white, a green shade of phthalo blue and phthalo green..
The vividness and high chroma comes from these very powerful phthalo pigments, they bounce back huge amounts of blue and green spectrum light and absorb nearly everything else, once the zingy cold titanium white is added into the mix and it lifts the tonal value you obtain this almost fluorescent blue green.
The masstone is reminiscent of a cobalt teal hue, however it is over 50% cheaper in price.
The titanium white in the mix has reduced the tint power of the phthalo pigments, making it more manageable than I expected. The tints keep softening as more white is added, eventually ending with soft turquoise hues.
